ARIXTRA for the treatment of deep vein thrombosis (DVT)

Once-daily ARIXTRA was as effective as twice-daily enoxaparin for the treatment of DVT [2]

Incidence of Symptomatic Recurrent VTE at 3 Months

ARIXTRA was well tolerated by patients undergoing DVT treatment [2]

Rates of Major Bleeding Were Similar During the Initial Treatment Period
*Bleeding was defined as major if it was clinically overt and associated with a decrease in the hemoglobin level of 2 g/dL or more, led to a transfusion of 2 or more units of red blood cells or whole blood cells, was retroperitoneal or intracranial, occurred in a critical organ, or contributed to death.

Study summary for the treatment of deep vein thrombosis [2]

The MATISSE DVT trial was a randomized, double-blind study designed to assess the efficacy and safety of ARIXTRA once-daily vs enoxaparin BID over a 3-month period (N=2,205). In both groups, treatment with a vitamin K antagonist (warfarin) was begun as soon as possible and within 72 hours after initiation of the study treatment and was continued for 3 months.

  • The study also included patients with cancer or a history of cancer (18%), and patients with previous VTEs (25%).
  • Approximately one-third of study participants received treatment partially or entirely in an outpatient setting.
