ARIXTRA for long-term venous thromboembolism (VTE) prophylaxis after hip fracture surgery

With extended therapy, ARIXTRA continued to protect against venous thromboembolism (VTE) [11]

In the PENTHIFRA study, the risk of VTE persisted after hospital discharge. According to the results of that study, 73% (22/30) of symptomatic VTE events occurred during follow-up between day 11 and day 49 following hip fracture surgery. ARIXTRA can continue protection after hospital discharge.[5]

ARIXTRA Significantly Reduced DVT by 96% vs Placebo

Major bleeding with ARIXTRA was comparable to placebo [11]

Major Bleeding During Treatment Period

*Major bleeding was defined as clinically overt bleeding that was fatal, bleeding at critical site or leading to an intervention, or with a bleeding index (BI) = 2.

Study summary for VTE prophylaxis after hip fracture surgery

The PENTHIFRA Plus trial was a randomized, double-blind study in which patients received either ARIXTRA 2.5 mg SC once-daily or placebo for 21±2 days. Prior to randomization, all patients received ARIXTRA for 7±1 days. [11]
